Absorption Chiller for Air Conditioning at Embudu Resort

REM is currently installing a demo, diesel fired absorption chiller serving two rooms in Embudu Resort. The system will be up and running by end February 2011. It is planned is to expand the system to provide air conditioning to new blocks of rooms as they come up. This is the first absorption chiller to be installed in the Maldives and will be monitored closely. Interested clients are invited to contact REM to observe the unit working.

Heat Recovery at Felivaru Fish Processing Plant

REM is working with Felivaru Fish Processing plant to install a heat recovery system for the diesel generators in the plant. The heat recovered from the generators will be used to produce steam for the fish canning process.

E-Dhoni, Solar-Hybrid Electric Boat

REM with our local and international partners are working on converting diesel dhonis, to electric drive powered by solar power and a small diesel electric generator. This technology will reduce the amount of diesel needed to run the dhoni. The demo boat was exhibited at the Gulf Craft Boat show in October 2010. Currently refining the design based on the trial in ongoing. The expectation is to get a speed of 12 knots in a fiber glass 50 ft, 9 ton boat, using the hybrid system. .

Solar Powered Diving Boat

A solar powered diving boat with capacity for 10 divers with diving gear, is being designed and built by Solar marine which is a partnership with Coastline Investments, a boat building company and Renewable Energy Maldives. The boat is a 10m catamaran and will have a speed of 20 knots
